The park was the first protected area ( ANPs ) with tropical ecosystems decreed in Mexico . In 1937 , President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Mexico declared this area as Parque Nacional Lagunas de Chacahua . Geomorphological formation [edit ] The geological formation of this park is summarized as a process that gave rise to two different geological units: During the Jurassic period. In this period of the Mesozoic era highlands were formed based tectonic metamorphic rocks. During the Quaternary period. In this period of the Cenozoic Era large metamorphic rocks that raised relief and gave way to hills and mountains due to volcanic activity formed. Relief [edit ] The highlight of the park consists of seven units diferenciadas.6 These are : Floodplain or coastal floodplain delta plain the lomeríos marshes The seaside bar Water bodies Ecosystems [ edit] The park is composed of two ecosystems , which are: Terrestrial Ecosystem. It occupies an area of eleven thousand five hundred ninety-eight hectares. Includes lowlands are 81% of the surface highlands are 17% and transitional land with 2% .7 aquatic ecosystem . It occupies an area of three thousand three hundred twenty-four hectares. Includes the Chacahua - Pastoría lagoon complex and four smaller lakes : Poza the Mulato , Palisade , Poza of Corraleños and Salina Grande. Weather [ edit] The climate of the park is known as Tropic Subhúmedo due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. This area has rainfall ranging from 600-1500 mm with temperatures exceed 20 ° C . Flora and fauna [edit ] The park has 10 different types of vegetation : Spiny forest, floodplain forest, deciduous , subtropical broadleaf forests , mangroves , savannah, gallery forest , tular , palmar and coastal dunes . So far they have been documented in the park 246 species of flowers and 189 species of animals. You can find birds such as storks , herons , wild ducks, aliazules teals , pelicans and spoonbills . Three species of turtles also visit the park to lay their huevos.2 Attractions [ edit] There are boat trips to see the shores , mangroves and the many birds that fish in these waters. These tours usually include a stop to taste the local food and visit a crocodile farm breeding crocodiles several Mexican Pacific coast ( Crocodylus acutus )
